Product Description Black & Decker G48T Electric Waffle Maker, Griddle, Grill - Black & Decker integrates 3 popular electric cooking appliances into one space saving powerhouse that helps prepare meals quickly, flexibly, and comfortably. In addition to baking waffles, you can make grilled cheese or meat sandwiches, sausages, bacon, even eggs. It's an overall breakfast preparation appliance! 110 Volt AC Power Cord
Amazon.com Review A waffle baker, grill, and griddle, this three-in-one appliance comes in handy during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and after school. Key to the unit's versatility are two 8-inch-square cooking plates--one set into the product's bottom and the other into the hinged top. On one side the plates form grids for making four waffles at once. Flipped over to show their flat sides they're capable of top and bottom grilling a sandwich or steak. To create griddle space, the top opens up flat, forming two 8-inch-square cooking surfaces for all foods that love a griddle--such as pancakes, hash browns, and eggs. Channels send grease to spouts in the griddles' corners, where it drains away. Nonstick to release food easily and wipe clean, the cooking plates also can be removed for scrubbing. A heat control offers high, low, and medium temperatures. With its chrome housing and stay-cool black synthetic handles, this 900-watt appliance looks great on the counter. Afterward, the cord wraps around the hinge, plus you can stand the unit upright for compact storage. It measures 11-1/4 inches wide, 5 inches high, and 11-3/4 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Ouch! But it is worth it! August 30, 2010 Alethes 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I looked high and low for an old fashioned waffle iron (not the big Belgian style waffles that have become so dominant) and finally found this one. It feels "cheaper" than the old beast lurking in the cupboards my mom used to have when I was growing up but it makes the same waffles. The only downside of this waffle iron, contingent on its long term durability, is the fact that the outside case/shell of the waffle iron gets just as hot as the actual place where the waffle is. That is because there is a coil on the top and bottom and it isn't insulated. When the iron is running full bore you could fry and egg on the top of it. If it weren't for the fact that I burned my finger the second time I used it (wasn't too bad of a burn...didn't blister) I would give this thing five stars just because it seems to be the only old style waffle iron still being made. Don't be afraid to buy it if you actually want the small waffle pattern instead of the Belgians, just keep it out of the reach of children or where you might bump into it while it is churning out great waffles.
It's not non-stick August 28, 2010 Pam Meyer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The few times I have tried to use this waffle iron the waffles have stuck so bad that I had to soak and scrub them off. I just stuck the waffle iron in the closet out of frustration. I even oiled it before pouring the batter on to see if that would help. It didn't. I've never had such a bad waffle iron.
Very Disappointing August 25, 2010 M. Baker (Louisville, KY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this appliance for several years and used it lightly (2x per month). The plates have never heated evenly - one side was always hotter than the other. Now it's so bad the waffles only get done on one side.
Couldn't even use it once! August 24, 2010 joeshmoe (MA) Despite some negative reviews, I purchased this waffle iron to replace my old one. My old one was the exact same design, but by another maker (Grill Max, I think). My previous waffle iron was amazing and lasted seven years. I used it about 4 times a month for the last 5 years. No really. I love waffles. I never had any issues with it, until one day something blew and it wouldn't power on anymore. So I decided to try the Black and Decker version. Maybe I just got a defective one. But the bottom plate wouldn't stay on. It kept popping off...as soon as I got it out of the box. I certainly can't cook with a waffle iron if the plate won't stay down on the heating element.
Thank you Amazon for making returns easy.
Good for Waffles August 23, 2010 Toterose 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Trying to save space and time, I purchased this waffle baker to replace a much smaller one and a very nice Cuisinart Griddler for pancakes. And since I only seem to make waffles and pancakes when we have a crowd, I wanted them to come out fast and plenty. The new B&D Waffle Baker does a great job on the waffles, but used as a griddle, heats unevenly. We love the waffles and the ease of cleaning. Overall, a good choice, but not as good outside the waffle making. I guess I'l have to make space for both the B&D and the Cuisinart!
